Re: Galaxy S3 FIRMWARE UPDATE YET?

[ Edited ]
You can only flash with Odin if you want to go backwards http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/how-to-install-ice-cream-sandwich-on-your-samsung-galaxy-s2-... Obviously for an S2 but process is the same....

Re: Galaxy S3 FIRMWARE UPDATE YET?

Grabbed the firmware update last night OTA and after a reboot the phone is running as I would expect it to, a tad nippier, but the phone is really responsive as it is. I'm and ex 4S user so the battery could be sub 25% after a days use and I would still be happy, much better than a flat battery. Today will be the test. The (possibly) long wait for a fully usable JB now, either officially or unofficially.

Re: Galaxy S3 FIRMWARE UPDATE YET?

Anyone else noticing a drop in call quality/signal since this firmware update? Did it change the radio baseband also? Mine is now giving me awful radio quality on calls and dropping calls where it never use to.

Re: Galaxy S3 FIRMWARE UPDATE YET?

Further to my last post I am getting lots of force closes on the phone process - going to re-flash the firmware, failing that it may be a case of re-rooting my S3 and ROMin' it up again.

Re: Galaxy S3 FIRMWARE UPDATE YET?

I got the update yesterday and noticed lots of small changes which make the phone worse than before. Wish I hadn't updated it. For example the predictive texting has changed a little - it's harder to insert commas and question marks. In the past you'd press the comma and it would automatically insert a comma next to the end of the word, however, now it leaves a space and inserts it. It's picky but why change it, it was working fine before!!
Plus I've noticed when you press the phone icon on the homepage you have to press the name and then ring someone, while in the past a symbol already existed next to the name so you could ring someone so much easier. There are a few more like this which seem to take the phone backwards not forwards.
Anyone else noticed these or other things or how to get around any of these?

Re: Galaxy S3 FIRMWARE UPDATE YET?

Not directed at anyone in particular, so not intended to offend, but, I always laugh when I read these posts.... There is a torrent of "where's my upgrade" "O2 are rubbish, so slow, the worst network ever at releasing updates" then, when they roll out the update "wish I hadn't updated" "how do I go back" etc.... Come on peeps. If the phone works, use it and stop chasing the end of the rainbow !!!! :smileyhappy:

Re: Galaxy S3 FIRMWARE UPDATE YET?

In relation to your text issue; I use Swype, just head over to their website, sign up and follow the on screen help. So much quicker and keeps the grammar police at bay. In relation to calls. I always just go to phone book and gesture from left to right on the name of the person I wish to call. So much quicker than going into phone>contact>call icon.

Re: Galaxy S3 FIRMWARE UPDATE YET?

Well in my defence, my phone has got miles worse over the last few days and I presumed it was the firmware update. However, we have 3 o2 masts in hull and surrounding areas and apparently 2 have been badly vandalized and not working. This happened 2 days ago when I received my update so just coincidental but explains my problems.

Re: Galaxy S3 FIRMWARE UPDATE YET?

I come from ownership of an Iphone. Firmware updates worked on them without issue. My bad. Not a mistake I will make again.

I tried a factory reset. Still same problems re glitch in headphones sound and redraw of screen. Forgive my ignorance, but if I use Odin to.Reinstall the firmware or roll back to the earlier vI tried a factory reset. Still same problem. Forgive my ignorance, but if I use Odin to. Reinstall the firmware or roll back to the earlier version, does that mean I can never use Kies again?
