Confused about S4 and Lollipop!

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi, don't know if anyone can help. I have an S4 which is on o2 (hence commenting on this forum!). I was under the assumption that Lollipop wasn't released for the o2 S4 yet however I have just seen that it is available as an update for my phone? How is that if o2 haven't released it?

Thanks
David

Type *#1234# and look at the CSC.
If it is o2u you have an o2 phone, but if it's btu it's unbranded.
Lollipop has been released for btu phones.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Thanks for that. It appears that it's btu and so it's unbranded. I'm assuming it's safe to go ahead and update to lollipop? Anything I should do/be aware of first?

Sorry for the questions...am relatively new to this!

A factory reset is important after this update due to the very different file structure used in Lollipop, so make sure you have everything important backed up before completing the update.
Once that's done though you shouldn't have any problems - just enjoy it slight_smile

Good luck - hope it goes better than when I updated my S2 a few years back - the update failed and bricked the phone, had to have a warranty repair! Sure it will go OK slight_smile
