Changed from an iphone 4 to a galaxy alpha and its all gone wrong!

I wish I had never changed phones.  I cant send or receive texts sporadically.  I never receive a single text from one friend.  I have tried contacting O2 and as usual they are rubbish.  I finally spoke to someone in the tech side and they said that its because my account with iphone needed deactiviating...which I did.  Still nothing.  I rang them again today to tell them and they cant help me as the area I am in now (at work) is a bad service area so I need to ring them from home.  02 have been worse than useless.  I think I have no option other than just to pay £330 and cancel my account.  Any ideas?

Call them again when you can. The tech guy was right. It seems your still set up on iData. Once changed you'll be fine

Having checked elsewhere it says you may have to wait a couple of days for the iPhone to be deactivated...Turn the Alpha off and back on again and this should be ok. If the problem persists you may have to contact Apple support instead of O2.. (although as Nandroid says O2 may have to reconfigure your account)

Ok.

The link in the thread I pasted in was created by Apple to help with the issue.

See if this resolves overnight.

It's a deliberate ploy by Apple to make leaving as difficult as possible, so that you end up going back wink
But seriously, there are a number of things you have to do to get out of the Apple eco system.
Once all the steps have been completed you will be fine.
After completing the webtool online with Apple check back with O2 CS that you are on a Standard data package and from there on it should all be sorted.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
