Have just got my first smartphone!!!   Saved all my contacts to SIM card.   Then wanted to back up so set up a GMail account.  If I now save a contact to Google it will appear on my contacts list on GMail.

Is there a way to merge the contacts already saved on my SIM card to that Google account?  I have tried using the menu option "Merge with Google" but no result....

Just hit settings and go to import from sim. Once they are on your phone they can then be merged to your Gmail account. Safe and sound.

Thanks but I still can't find that...  If I go to settings I don't see that option  on my screen.  can you provide me with an idiots guide to reach that option - I am very grateful!!!1
