Lollipop doesn't have any provision for security updates but is still covered by Google play verification.

True.  So long as nobody uses teh Amazon app store, for example, as then they will have switched off tehir security by allowing apps from other places to install.

 

That never covered the StageFright issue, assuming it ever actually was one.

As viridis mentioned previously, I never heard of anyone getting caught by stagefright!
