APN Settings for Samsung Galaxy S3

Hi all,

I just purchased a samsung galaxy s3.   I currently have a 12 month simplicity sim on an iPhone with a 100mb iphone data bolt on (which I have now changed to the smartphone data bolt on).

I just want to know the exact APN settings for data/internet and MMS for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Thanks,

Michael

[ Edited ]

The same as anybody else on contract. Be aware that texting ACTIVE to 2020 usually gives Pay as you Go settings. These don't work properly on my S2 for some reason.

Internet

Name:  O2 UK Mobile Web
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
Username: o2web
Password: password
Server: not set

MCC: 234
MNC: 10
Authentication: PAP
APN Type: default,supl
APN Protocol: IPv4

MMS

Name: O2 UK Pay Monthly MMS
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not Set
Username: o2wap
Password: password
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
MMS Proxy:  82.132.254.1
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
Authentication: PAP
APN type: mms
APN protocol: ipv4

Generally speaking, these are the settings I use for my handset. However first thing I would do is, go into the Settings > More > Mobile Networks > APN and choose Reset to default (which should be read of your MicroSIM). Restart your S3 and test your data connections.

Failing that,  create them manually and restart.

Re: APN Settings for Samsung Galaxy S3

Cheers for the reply :smileyhappy:

I did search, but got a lot of posts from 2009/2010 so I just wanted a confirmation on an up-to-date settings.    all the iPhone's settings were idata.o2.......  so I knew these setting would be different for Android devices.

Thanks again

Re: APN Settings for Samsung Galaxy S3

Been there myself, banging my head against a brickwall metaphorically and after wasting about an hour between O2 CS and my local O2 branch, I saw something on the great wide interweb and thus the problem was fixeth.

Re: APN Settings for Samsung Galaxy S3

The dot is always on mobile web at the top with MMS underneath it. It is greyed out because the settings are part of your FW so they must be correct. The issue is with your account so get on to CS to reprovision MMS on your account. Make sure they delete then add it again.

Re: APN Settings for Samsung Galaxy S3

Thank you so very much i would still be tearing my hair out if you had not replied. I have just rang CS and guy's removed it and says he will add it in 24 hours then 24 hours later i will be able to use pic messages. So wednesday fingers crossed phone will be ok  Hope this makes sense.

Yes, makes perfect sense - That is exactly what is needed. You got hold of a good CS person who knew what they were talking about :smileywink:
